Parents Night Out
All parents are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to have a night out while their children have fun playing themed games at the church. It will be a great night for everyone!
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the facility we are only able to accommodate potty trained kids through 6th graders at this time.

Veterans Day
Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11. It is a a celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
To honor our veterans the church office will be closed.
November Food Item: Canned Veggies-No Green Beans or Corn
For the month of November, we are collecting cans of vegetables for the community, except green beans and corn. This will be an easy and excellent item to pick up at the grocery store when you are there. So many in our community will appreciate having vegetables to feed their families this fall. Remember to mark your calendars for this rewarding outreach event.
Fall Festival
Please join us for our annual Fall Festival on October 16. There will be games, crafts, great food, prizes and much more! For more information, please contact the main church office. Time TBA.

Indigenous Peoples' Day
Indigenous Peoples' Day is a holiday in the United States that celebrates and honors Indigenous American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures. It is celebrated across the United States on the second Monday in October, and is an official city and state holiday in various localities.
The church office will be closed on this special holiday.
October Food Item: Rice and Dried Beans
A homecooked meal of rice and beans is not only satisfying to your tastebuds — it can be a healthy addition to your diet. A plate of beans and rice will give you important nutrients like carbs, protein and fiber. According to the American Heart Association, Beans + Rice = A Complete Protein for Global Nutrition.
To help families in our community get a well balanced meal with fiber and protein, Jenks Methodist is collecting rice and dried beans for their October food item. Bring the items to the Main Church office during the month of October. Dried beans include: pinto, navy, kidney, lima, butter, black, or great northern. Types of rice include: white, brown, jasmine, basmati, and wild rice.

Labor Day
Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the first Monday of September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States.
To commemorate this holiday, the Church Office will be closed. Enjoy the holiday.
September Food Item: Canned Meats
For the month of September, the church will be collecting canned meat. Please bring any types of canned meat to the Main Church Office. This includes, salmon, tuna, chicken, ham, corned beef, vienna sausages, and Spam. Yes, even Spam.

August Food Item: Paper Goods
School is in session and that means our August item is paper goods. So we need you to bring notebook paper, Kleenex, construction paper, spirals, notepads, or sticky notes to the Main Church office during the month of August. If you think a teacher or child would need it during the school year, then go ahead and bring it - markers, crayons, pencils, glue, etc. Thank you so much for helping our kids and the community get ready to be successful this school year.
Life Line Screening
Stay on top of your health with a Life Line Screening. The screening package will:
Detect plaque build-up in the major arteries of the neck, which is a leading cause of stroke.
Detect an enlargement of the abdominal aorta, the largest artery in the body.
Screen for lower extremity vascular disease, which is a significant risk factor for heart attack and stroke.
Screen for a common heart arrhythmia, which increases the risk of stroke 5-fold.
Bone density ultrasound screening to the heel to check for osteoporosis.
Once the results come in, you and your doctors will have the necessary information you need to work together towards improving your health.

Vacation Bible School
Superheroes activate - it is time for VBS!
Invite all your superhero friends to join you July 23-25 from 6-8:30 pm as we learn how Jesus is the ultimate superhero of our faith. There will be three-superhero themed nights full of FUN and AMAZING activities. This event is for incoming Kindergarteners/Pre-K graduates (must be potty-trained) to incoming 6th grade students.
Parents/caregivers will need to escort their children in and out of the building each day and register their child(ren). We ask that you complete one form per child please.

Tai Chi Classes
Are you interested in learning more about this ancient practice proven to reduce pain and improve your mental and physical well-being? Improve your balance, strength, agility and coordination with our FREE Tai Chi Classes. No experience or registration is required.
Tai chi is a series of gentle physical exercises and stretches. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. Tai chi is sometimes described as meditation in motion because it promotes serenity through gentle movements - connecting the mind and body.
Classes begin Thursday, July 11 from 11 am - 12:30 pm and will continue for 4 weeks (July 11, 18, 25, and August 1 ) every Thursday until August 1.
Benefits of Tai Chi:
Increased flexibility, balance, and agility.
Increased muscle strength and definition.
Decreased stress, anxiety and depression.
Improved mood.
Improved immunity.
Lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

Independence Day
Each year on July 4th, the United States celebrates Independence Day. This federal holiday commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.
The Church Office will be closed to commemorate this holiday.
July Food Item: Peanut Butter, Jelly
July is Peanut Butter and Jelly time. Bring as many different kids of jelly as you can - grape, strawberry, peach, or blackberry. Do you like smooth or crunch peanut butter?
Make sure to bring all of your items for July by the Main Church office. Thank you so much for participating.

Red/White/Blue Jeans Sunday
We are celebrating the 4th of July and we want to encourage everyone to wear patriotic colors and jeans. The children will parade through the beginning of the service with mini flags to the song “God Bless America.” Anyone can dress as a figure that represents the U.S. too: President Lincoln, President Washington, Statue of Liberty—or your military uniform. This is a great day for patriotic fellowship and fun.
JMC Family Picnic Day
Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 23 for our Annual JMC Family Picnic Day. The church will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs to everyone. All you need to do is bring a side dish or dessert, plus a chair.
Homemade Ice Cream Contest - Make sure to pull out those special recipes for some good ole homemade ice cream. There will be all kinds of flavors to taste and enjoy.
For the kids we will have bouncy houses so make sure to invite your kids, grandkids, neighbors and friends.
We can’t wait to fellowship with your family.

Juneteenth
Dating back to 1865, Juneteenth commemorates the day when 250,000 slaves in the state of Texas, which became the last bastion for slavery during the final days of the Civil War, were declared free by the U.S. Army. This day is in observance of slavery ending across the United States.
To commemorate this holiday the Main Church Office will be closed.
Father's Day
Jenks Methodist is all about the generations. Come celebrate dads, grandpas and caregivers with us on June 16.
June Food Item: Macaroni & Cheese
In June, our food item is mac and cheese. So bring in all of your favorites. Plus, you might want to buy some new ones to try out for fun, ever tried Kraft, Velveeta, Cheetos, or Annies. Who knew Cheetos had mac and cheese. Did you know????
1. Kraft Foods sells more than one million boxes of their mac & cheese every day!
2. During the end of the Great Depression, macaroni and cheese became a popular food item due to its low cost. It was billed as “the housewife’s best friend, and sold 8 million boxes when it was released by Kraft Foods in 1937. The popularity of the food then exploded once again in World War II.
Make sure to drop all of your boxes at the Main Church Office during the month of June.
Memorial Day
Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States that honors members of the military who died while serving our country.
In observance of veterans who lost their lives in the line of duty., the Main Church Office will be closed.
All-Church Picnic
This is the event we wait for all year. The guys grill hamburgers and hotdogs and everyone else brings a side dish. There will be a homemade ice cream contest so pull out your best recipe to compete for the blue ribbon.
This FREE outdoor event will have plenty of fun with lots of outdoor games and playground equipment for kids to run and play in the sun.

Mother's Day Celebration
The men of Jenks Methodist will cook a brunch and decorate tables for all of the mothers, grandmothers and caregivers of the church.
This event is FREE for all. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to honor that special woman in your life.
Jenks Food Truck Festival
This is a favorite annual event for all foodies. The Jenks Food Truck Festival returns on Saturday, May 4 from 11 am - 6 pm.
This event features a variety of popular food trucks and other vendors across the region. Patrons can dine and explore Main Street Jenks, including many unique non-food vendors.
Jenks Methodist will join in the fun by having a bouncy house, bean bag toss, games, Josh’s Sno Shack and bottled water on site.

Do you know what the top ten cereals are in America? Is your favorite on the list? When you are buying your favorite one this week, pick up a couple of extra boxes and bring them to the church office for our May food item that we are collecting. So many will appreciate being fed the most important meal of the day.
