About Us
Jenks Methodist is a community church located in the heart of Jenks. Our worship, teachings, and way of life focus on what matters most: faith through the generations.
-
Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of all.
Engaging as disciples to reach others.
Neighborly love being lived out in serving others through missions.
Knowledge of Scripture as the foundation of our faith.
Small groups as vital to our spiritual health. -
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.*universal

Communion is the sacrament of nurture. Through the bread and juice, we experience the real presence of Christ, in a special way. The liturgy retells the story of God’s love and forgiveness through His Son.
All who are seeking Jesus are invited to partake. The liturgy will be on the screens. You will be directed when to come forward to receive the elements. A piece of bread and cup of juice will be handed to you. The steward will say, “This is the body and blood of Christ given for you.” An appropriate response is, “Amen.” After receiving the elements, you are invited to kneel and pray or return to your seat.
-
Baptism is the sacrament of initiation. It is an outward sign of an inward grace. Baptism symbolizes the end of our old way of life, and spiritual rebirth into new life with Christ.
If you have already been baptized, even as baby, you will not be re-baptized. We believe your baptism is valid. If you have never been baptized, we invite you to begin a conversation with our pastor. No class is required but we want ensure you understand the significance. Parents may choose to have their infants baptized.
Baptisms are celebrated in the worship service, before the church family. You may choose immersion, pouring or sprinkling.

History
With the discovery of oil in Glenpool, Jenks became a boom town. The first services were held in the railroad station. Bennie and Lutie Saunders were founding members. Bennie hauled oil-soaked beams from the Glenpool oil fields to form the foundation of the first building on the corner of 3rd and A street. The white frame structure with bell tower was destroyed by a tornado in 1919. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Engel donated the land where the church stands today. The new building opened in 1922, was replaced again in 1970, and has since been renovated.
Our church has been a vital part of the community in the heart of Jenks, America for over 110 years. Through the generations, some families have been active since it’s earliest days. The congregation is a close-knit group of believers who grow to be like family.
Jenks Methodist helped launch Glenpool UMC and Saint James UMC. However, in 2023, we disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church. We remain deeply rooted in the Methodist tradition, and are discerning our next steps.
